Lisa Zuker

Born a city girl with roots in Brooklyn, New York, Lisa enjoyed the outdoors as a child especially swinging on the play set in her backyard and jumping off, fortunately with no broken bones to show for it. Her adventures these days include lots of planting as she continues to marvel at the miracle of all things growing in the garden.

God never ceases to amaze her!!

Perhaps she inherited a bit of a green thumb from her paternal grandmother, but she continues to learn and grow daily and is always excited about sharing garden knowledge with others. There are never any garden failures. We get back up, brush the dirt off our knees and try again! Lisa believes that everyone can find joy in gardening and this is what she wishes to share with you.

Travis Zuker

Originally hailing from Lansing, Michigan, Travis moved to North Carolina at the tender age of 15. Facing an uncertain future in a foreign land where barbecue was a noun instead of a verb, Travis did his best to acclimate to his surroundings.

Avoiding gardening for the next twenty years after a traumatic corn planting incident in 1983, he battled back and began gardening in earnest, albeit without the benefit of the true knowledge needed to prevent the Great Tomato Plant Siege of 2011 (the tomato plants won, by the way).

Having learned along the way with the guidance of his lovely wife, Lisa, Travis has learned to appreciate the beauty and tranquility of a garden. And the eponymous ‘Mater sandwich.

Baxter Barkley Zuker

Baxter is the official mascot of Sowing Seeds Garden and supervises all garden-related planting, growing, and harvesting activity in his prized backyard. He can also be found enjoying a run through the cool water from the hose on a hot day especially after a job well done chasing a few squirrels away from the veggies in the garden.
